In front of a sold-out crowd at the EMKA Sportzentrum in Velbert, Germany, “Big” Patrick Korte won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Eurasia Heavyweight title on Saturday night, November 24, defeating Georgia's Ramazi Gogichashvili.

While they split the first two rounds on the cards of two of the judges, Korte, appeared in control from early on before dropping Gogichashvili with a right to the body in round three. The Georgian beat the count of referee Thomas Hackenberg, but the writing was on the wall.

Soon after, Korte, a former German national champion from nearby Essen, scored a second knock-down after a barrage of punches, and this time Gogichashvili stayed down for the full count. Time of stoppage was 1:33 of round three.

Topping a bill promoted by former WBF International Heavyweight ruler Werner Kreiskott, the new WBF Eurasia Heavyweight Champion took his professional statistics to 14-1 (12). Gogichashvili, the younger man by ten years at twenty-four, drops to 31-27-2 (21).
