With no fans in attendance, promoter Nomvelo Shezi staged an early afternoon card on Saturday March 13 at the old town hall in Pietermartizburg, South Africa, headlined by two World Boxing Federation (WBF) title fights.

Andile Mntungwa fought what was probably the fight of his life, beating former South African national champion Lee Dyer to win the vacant WBF All Africa Super Middleweight title.

It was entertaining and competitive all the way, but in the end Mntungwa was deservedly declared the winner by unanimous decision, as judges Thokozani Ncube, Bulelwa Mthembu and Sipho Zondo all scored it in his favor: 97-93, 96-94 and 99-93.

Winning his first professional championship in a stop-start career which began in 2011, Mntungwa took his deceiving record to 6-4-1 (4), and Dyer, also a former ABU Southern Region titlist, falls to 7-4-2 (6).

In the co-feature, younger brother Siphesihle Mntungwa, now 6-1-2 (3), fought to a draw with Malawian Romeo Makwakwa, now 9-6-1 (6), leaving the WBF All Africa Lightweight title vacant after ten very close and action-packed rounds of boxing.

Judges Thokozani Ncube and Bulelwa Mthembu couldn't separate the two, both scoring the fight 95-95. Judge Sipho Ndongeni scored it 96-94 for Mntungwa, making it a majority draw.
