World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Super Flyweight Champion Gcina Makhoba is set to defend his title for the first time on February 27 in Durban, against fellow South African Thulani Gumede.

Both are from the KwaZulu-Natal province, so pride and bragging rights will very much also be on the line in this local encounter.

A pro for just over three years, the champion brings a record of 5-1-1 (1), with Gumede bringing a 7-1-1 (3) ledger to the party, having entered the paid code in June of 2016.

Makhoba won the WBF International title last February with a technical decision over Musawenkosi Ndwandwe, while Gumede scored a non-title victory on the undercard.

Both have since been waiting patiently for a return to the ring, and now it happens in this highly anticipated main event promoted by Starline Boxing Promotions.

Styles makes fights, as the old boxing-saying goes, and these two will almost certainly set the house on fire come February 27.
